Body Mass Index
About
The Body Mass Index (BMI) is a simple calculation using your weight and height to estimate your body fat percentage. While not perfect, it can provide a general indicator of potential health risks associated with weight.
Interpretation:
- Healthy weight: 18.5 to 24.9
- Overweight: 25 to 29.9 (increased risk of health problems)
- Obese: 30 or above (significantly increased risk of health problems)
Important notes:
- BMI doesn't differentiate between muscle and fat, so it may not be fully accurate for very muscular individuals or those with low muscle mass.
- It's just one tool for assessing health; consider it alongside other factors like waist circumference, body composition, and overall health history.
- Consult your healthcare provider for personalized interpretation and guidance based on your individual circumstances.
